Waukegan, IL – The Lake County Federation of Teachers (LCFT), has “enthusiastically” endorsed Eric Rinehart and his historic run for Lake County State’s Attorney. LCFT represents approximately 5,500 men and women in Lake County. LCFT members include elementary and secondary teachers, school-related personnel, support staff, teaching assistants, clerks, secretaries, bus drivers, higher education faculty and staff. The federated local consists of twenty-two councils located throughout Lake County. LCFT has never made an endorsement in the Lake County State’s Attorney race, but chose to do so after its Executive Board unanimously supported Rinehart and his campaign.

Rinehart stated, “The endorsement from the Lake County Federation of Teachers is very personal to me. My parents are teachers, and from the beginning, teachers have shaped my life, values, and aspirations. As I navigate school with my two boys in the time of COVID-19, I am in awe and grateful for the sacrifices that teachers perform every day for our kids. I am also proud of this endorsement because of what the State’s Attorney’s office means to the long-term safety of our communities. I am committed to ending and addressing the school to prison pipeline that exists.”
