(Waukegan, IL) – Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart filed nominating petitions today at the Lake County Clerk’s office for the Democratic Nomination for Lake County State’s Attorney in the upcoming Democratic primary elections to be held on March 19th, 2024.
“Four years ago this week, I filed nominating petitions with the goal of making our community safer and courthouse fairer. Today, I stand here as Lake County’s State’s Attorney, with petitions gathered by over 100 volunteers from every part of the county who want to see our office continue to move forward with proven results. We have gained so much support because we are advocating for all victims, holding violent offenders accountable, and initiating domestic violence and gun violence prevention programs before the crime even happens,” said Eric Rinehart
Rinehart was sworn in as State’s Attorney in December 2020, and has overseen an unprecedented modernization of the office in less than three years. Rinehart has upgraded the forensic cyber lab, increased the number of victim specialists and prosecutors handling domestic violence cases, and secured millions of dollars in new grants allowing the office to engage in strategic gun violence prevention, to build a human trafficking task force, and increase treatment programs for juvenile offenders and those suffering from mental illness.
Rinehart has received endorsements from numerous Illinois elected officials at all levels of government.
