(Waukegan, IL) – Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart issued the following statement commemorating the Anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Decision.
“This week marks the anniversary of the monumental Supreme Court decision in Roe v Wade, which protected a person’s right to choose. For all of us who believe in the right to privacy and a woman’s right to make decisions about her own health, Roe was instrumental.
“Decades later, this decision was overturned in a case called Dobbs. This reversal of Roe was a direct attack on women– plain and simple. After Dobbs, local prosecutor races have never been more important in protecting all of our rights against extremists who are trying to turn back progress – one state at a time.
“As long as I am State’s Attorney, residents and their medical providers will be safe in Lake County from anti-choice forces – in Illinois and beyond. I will never cooperate with any other state’s law enforcement efforts to investigate or prosecute a person for their reproductive choices or anyone who assists a person with such a basic human right.”
